put it in the cupboard to remove the foul smell, it works probably as good as putting a teabag or orange in it, as long as its not toxic or stains your clothes its ok i suppose.

Is this what you are talking about?

Meditation Stones
http://www.universoul-llc.com/browseproducts/Meditation-Stones.html

Each stone signifies a meditative objective:
visualization,
peace and tranquility,
equilibrium,
spiritual growth,
support and protection.

I'm afraid that I can't tell you anything about the method.
I ASSUME that, once you know what each stone signifies, you use it as a physical focus for your meditation -- but that's just a shot in the dark!

EDIT:
Looks like what they do is: "smell nice!"

Aromatherapy uses essential oils extracted from nature’s herbs and flowers. The aroma is inhaled, or applied to the skin, and each of the oils (or combination thereof) addresses a specific disorder. It appears that the body is able to utilize the healing properties of the oils through the olfactory system of the body, and so initiate the healing process. Aromatherapy practitioners would also have an understanding of the psychological and emotional factors of illness.

This website has some great information and articles about Aromatherapy.

2 oz of carrier oil (olive, jojoba, sweet almond oil)
20 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil
5 drops black pepper essential oil
blend well, massage small amount on joints twice daily store in dark container away from light
Do not use if pregnant

or

add 10 to 20 drops of eucalyptus essential oil to bath after water is run, mix well before getting in
Do NOT use if have high blood pressure or epilepsy, do NOT ingest

or

2 1/2 oz carrier oil (same as above)
15 drops frankincense essential oil
5 drops german chamomile essential oil
25 drops juniper essential oil
mix well and apply to joints twice daily store in dark container away from light
Do NOT use if pregnant or have epilepsy or have kidney disease

My clients usually use a combination of all three, they alternate the massage oils, when one is done they mix up the other and use it then go back to the first one, they use the eucalyptus in the bath every time they bathe, just make sure not to use the massage oil right before the bath and wait a couple hours after the bath before apply the massage oils.

Hope this helps

Tiger balm works rather well for joint issues - and the active ingredients are essential oils....

The link with take you to a variety of their products (the plain old arthritis rub is just fine) - click on a product and you get the ingredients and product reviews

Do you have any personal experience with any of these forms of complementary medicine? If it were me I would write on the one I had the most experience with. Maybe you've used Homeopathy to help during cold and flu season or to help with a child's teething. Or you had a relaxing massage that used a special blend of essential oils to relax, energize or balance you. Or if you've experienced a Reflexology session from a qualified Reflexologist.

Don't forget your local library as a source for references and materials on these subjects!

The best essay will be on the subject that you like best and understand best.

I suggest you read as much as you can to inform yourself thoroughly on each one of them, and the way you feel after your reading will enable you to choose.

All the best with you essay!

you may find accurate information on either topic by using your browser. the national center of homeopathy gives good data for your paper should you chose that topic. National Institute of Health can give data on all three

What kind of a school would have you write an essay on pseudoscience? I smell a rat.
However, why not start with some of your OWN research on these topics at these sites.

Why not write an essay on what leads people to believe in these sorts of weird things that have no valid evidence to support their claims?
