Aromatherapy is an ancient holistic practice involving essential oils to treat both physical and mental issues. Aromatherapy is used in the home and workplace in many different ways. There are several different essential oils and many of them serve several different purposes. This variety makes choosing aromatherapy scents a personal choice based on both the properties required and the scents preferred.

Many of the essential oils used for aromatherapy formulas are pleasantly scented and blend well. There are formulas for bedtime relaxation, formulas for energy and formulas for mood lifting. Some of the essential oils to blend for a general everyday relaxation and mind clearing property formula include:

• Chamomile calms the nerves treats insomnia and is good for anxiety.
• Benzoin is relaxing and good for relieving worry tension and emotional exhaustion.
• Jasmine is relaxing and soothing with aphrodisiac properties.
• Lavender is a pain reliever, which calms and soothes frayed nerves.
• Lemon Balm relaxes and calms to relieve worry.
• Rose is used to treat insomnia, depression and to relieve headaches.

Experimenting with different formulas will allow people to choose an aromatherapy scent that not only has beneficial properties but also provide a pleasant scent. Aromatherapy should not be an overpowering scent in the home but a light pleasant scent that lifts the spirit and relaxes and calms the nerves. People entering the home should gradually feel themselves calming and their minds clearing without a strong scent overpowering them.

These essential oils are effective individually or combined into specific formulas and can be used in diffusers, candles, lotions, massage oils, and warmers. The scents vary and can be purchased in pre mixed formulas or created by individuals to suit their individual needs. Some of the scents are quite strong and need to be diluted a great deal, while others are lightly scented and may require more of the oil to be an effective part of the formula.

Aromatherapy is an all natural holistic treatment for many different ailments both physical and emotional. These essential oils can be used to treat stomach discomfort, headaches, depression, anxiety, job stress and insomnia. Performing a bit of research on the variety of essential oils and the properties of each allow people to choose an aromatherapy scent.

Choosing an aromatherapy scent that fills the home with healing and relaxation is an easy choice that is made easier by specifically prepared formulas of aromatherapy products.
