While aromatherapy seems to be something that is better suited for home or the spa, aromatherapy in the workplace is beneficial to everyone there. Aromatherapy can provide soothing relaxation and mood lifting properties. Companies all over the world are using aromatherapy in the workplace in order to improve the moods and relieve stress in workers.
Anyone who has ever walked into an office and enjoyed the light scent of vanilla has used aromatherapy. Scents trigger feelings and emotions in the brain and each essential oil is used for a variety of treatments.
In the workplace aromatherapy can be used throughout offices and hallways in the form of diffuser areas, candles and even essential oils applied to air conditioning vents. Many times workers enjoy the pleasant scent without realizing the benefits of simply breathing throughout their day.
For personal office spaces individuals may use aromatherapy scented items such as hand lotion, candles, diffusers and even warmers to surround themselves with the healing and relaxing scents. People who use aromatherapy in their personal offices may find that more co-workers come to visit and enjoy the peaceful relaxation.
There are many aromatherapy essential oils that are specifically used for relaxation, mood lifting, and stress relief. These items can be purchased in pre-measured and diluted packages that are ready for use, or each of these oils can be obtained individually and mixed to create a formula.
The art of aromatherapy mixing and preparation is an ancient healing art that has become mainstream as a form of treatment for many ailments and also just for basic relaxation and soothing. In this modern era it has been discovered that aromatherapy can be used alongside many medicinal treatments. For example cancer patients who are taking chemotherapy many times suffer from nausea, chamomile aromatherapy can help relieve the stomach upset and lessen vomiting. This makes aromatherapy a generally universal treatment for people of all ages. So why should aromatherapy only be available at home or when a person splurges on a spa treatment? Everyone should be able to relax and enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy on the job as well, since our workplaces are where we are the most stressed.
In the workplace aromatherapy can be a personal choice or a simple interesting scent in the air. There are many different essential oils that can be used in the workplace including lavender, chamomile, lemon balm and sandalwood. Each of these oils can be diffused or diluted so that the smell is not overpowering and will simply provide a pleasant smell to the area.
